To provide spiritual and emotional guidance to women in need of social, developmental, and familial support of a caring adult.
Mentor Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for meeting with the assigned client for the agreed-upon time frame i.e., often weekly meetings for the duration of the volunteer CdM Program period (3mos, 6mos, 1 year)
• Work with client(s) on SMART goal setting  (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely)
• Lead devotional prayer(s)
• Apply scripture teaching(s) as examples to help manage/navigate life events
• Act as a resource and guide
• Work closely with residential mom/client through phone contact, personal conferences and group meetings
• Serve as an example/role model
• Accept and relate to client who may not share the volunteer’s lifestyle and values
• Respect the client’s right to self-determination and independence
• Serve as a positive role model by modeling desirable behaviors—e.g. patience, kindness, and reflective listening.
• Be comfortable and able to establish appropriate boundaries with the client and her family
• Honor, all commitments made to the client

• Mature follower of Christ – spiritual foundation
• Openness to cultural differences
• Good listening/communication skills
• Patience
• Sense of humor/compassionate life view
• Commitment to serve client’s best interests
• Pass a criminal background check
• Ability to preserve/promote client’s Rights to Privacy/Maintain Confidentiality
• Successfully complete an interview for a mentor position with the CdM Board of Director’s quorum
• Be at least 21 years of age

Matches will be made on the basis of interests, skills, background, knowledge and temperament of both the client and the Christ Centered Companion (Mentor).
